Tomalins' Handicap Doubles Results

On a baking hot Melbourne afternoon the Tomalins delighted their vociferous supporters with a decisive win 8-4. They were through to the semi-finals!

By now excitement of the team was at fever pitch as we re-assembled in the dedans at 5 p.m. Their RMTC opponents had home court advantage and styled themselves the Stallions; the Hustlers hoped the Tomalins would geld them!

Tim and Pam started well and took the lead... sadly the opposition found a way to break through the Tomalin's previously solid defences and won 8-5. There was some speculation that the supporters were deliberately broken up by the RMTC to seek to reduce the volume of support...

Well played Tomalins!!!!

Here are some photos of the Club.....

HUSTLERS OUT BUT TOMALINS CARRY THE FLAME!

Well ..... we all played to our very best but were pipped at the post by the Hampton Court Royals, veterans of four Boomerangs.

Hardwick's hopes now rest with Tim and Pam who do battle at 2.45 p.m. The dedans promises to be as noisy as ever......

Go for it Tomalins! Dig deep! Way to go!

Competition Update

Wednesday was an eventful dayfor the team.

David & Gordon delighted a dedans packed with Hustlers' supporters. They played their best tennis of the tournament to date and chalked up the first rubber. This inspired the Tomalins to a steady win. The Fox-Box pair then snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to secure the match against RMTC Boasters with a 8-7 win. It' s always difficult to play a dead rubber and sadly the Ians were not able to romp home but still provided good entertainment for the spectators.

At 7.15 the Tomalins stormed through to the last 8 in a very solid performance. Sadly a few hours later the self-imposed alcohol ban proved the undoing of the Fox-Box pairing who this time could only snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Well played team and good luck at 5 p.m. today!

HARDWICK HUSTLERS HUSTLE!

Well... the first week is over and the team is doing well.

We came third in our group and as the prize for beating the fourth place team secured an 11 a.m. start for our next match rather than the 8 a.m. slot for the losers! The Hustlers have also done well in the doubles with tow pairings through to the last 16!!!

Tim and Pam Tomalin have played steadily throughout and Mike Box and David Fox are so far unbeaten in both competitions!

On wednesday at 7.15 p.m. the Tomalins play their next match followed by the Fox-Box pairing at 10.15 p.m.

Good luck Team!

Here we all are resplendent in team shirts awaiting our first match......
